bookings@motourszanzibar.comThe booking conditions that apply when you reserve tours, safaris, transfers, accommodation or travel packages with Mo Tours & Safaris.
A request, enquiry or quotation is not a confirmed booking. For an instant-book product, a booking becomes confirmed when the required deposit or full payment has been successfully received and booking confirmation has been issued. For an availability-first product, live availability must first be confirmed before payment and final confirmation.
Online instant booking is subject to the published advance-booking cut-off: Zanzibar Day Tours 24 hours, Tour Combinations 48 hours, Water Sports 24 hours, Swimming with the Turtles 24 hours, Zanzibar Transfers 24 hours, Zanzibar Holiday Packages 3 days, Tanzania Day Trip Safaris 5 days, Tanzania Safari Packages 7 days, Tanzania + Zanzibar Packages 14 days, and Mount Kilimanjaro packages 14 days. Other Beach Experiences and Adventure & Leisure products remain availability-first unless specifically stated otherwise. If a requested date falls inside the normal cut-off, standard online payment is closed, but the traveller may contact info@motourszanzibar.com so that Mo Tours & Safaris can check whether last-minute confirmation is still possible.
The lead traveller is responsible for providing accurate information for all persons included in the booking.
Unless otherwise stated, prices are quoted in US dollars (USD) and are subject to availability at the time of confirmation.
Where tier or group pricing is displayed, the applicable rate is determined by the confirmed number and category of travellers. If the group size changes, the per-person rate and total booking price may be recalculated.
Government taxes, park/conservation fees, fuel charges, exchange-rate effects or mandatory supplier charges outside our reasonable control may require a price adjustment. We will communicate any material change as soon as reasonably possible.
Instant-book Zanzibar Day Tours, Tour Combinations, Water Sports, Swimming with the Turtles, Zanzibar Transfers and Tanzania Day Trip Safaris require full payment (100%) at the time of booking unless checkout clearly states otherwise.
For eligible Zanzibar Holiday Packages, Tanzania Safari Packages, Tanzania + Zanzibar Packages and Mount Kilimanjaro packages booked more than 30 days before departure, a 30% deposit is payable to secure the booking and the remaining 70% balance is due 30 days before the trip begins. When one of these packages is booked within 30 days of departure, full payment is required at booking.
Availability-first services are paid only after availability has been confirmed. Certain flights, hotels, permits or other third-party services may require a larger or fully non-refundable advance payment; where applicable, this will be disclosed before confirmation.
Available payment methods will be shown in the quotation, invoice or checkout. Bank, card, payment-gateway or currency-conversion charges imposed by third parties are the traveller’s responsibility unless expressly included.
The inclusions and exclusions shown on the confirmed tour, package, itinerary or quotation form part of the booking. Services not expressly listed as included are not included in the price.
Requests to change dates, hotels, routes, activities, traveller numbers or other confirmed arrangements are subject to availability and any additional supplier costs. We will advise you of any price difference before confirming a material change.
We aim to operate every itinerary as confirmed. Reasonable changes may be necessary because of weather, sea conditions, road conditions, wildlife movements, park rules, safety considerations, supplier changes or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. Where practical, we will provide a suitable alternative of comparable value.
Hotels, lodges, airlines, ferries and other independent suppliers may apply their own conditions. Where a confirmed supplier becomes unavailable, we may propose a reasonable alternative. Flight schedules and other third-party timings may change independently of Mo Tours & Safaris.
Wildlife sightings and natural phenomena cannot be guaranteed. Kilimanjaro routes, summit progress and daily schedules are subject to weather, altitude, participant condition and the mountain guide’s safety decisions. Marine and watersport activities are subject to sea and weather conditions.
Travellers are responsible for assessing whether an activity is suitable for them and for obtaining professional medical advice where appropriate. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical treatment, emergency evacuation, cancellation, trip interruption, baggage and the activities included in your itinerary.
We are not responsible for failure or delay caused by events beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, epidemics, government action, civil disturbance, border or park closures, transport disruption or similar extraordinary events. We will make reasonable efforts to assist and to offer alternatives where practical.
Please report any service concern to our team as soon as possible during the trip so that we have a reasonable opportunity to resolve it. Unresolved complaints should be submitted in writing with relevant booking details.
These Terms are intended to be governed by the applicable laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. By confirming and paying for a booking, the traveller acknowledges the booking conditions applicable to the confirmed services.

bookings@motourszanzibar.comA clear explanation of cancellations, refunds, rescheduling, no-shows and non-recoverable supplier costs.
Cancellation requests must be made in writing by email or another written channel accepted by Mo Tours & Safaris. The effective cancellation date is the date on which we receive the written request.
Unless your quotation or booking confirmation contains a different supplier-specific cancellation condition, the following standard schedule applies:
Domestic flights, airline tickets, certain hotel or lodge deposits, park or climbing permits, special event bookings and other third-party services may become partly or fully non-refundable once reserved. Where this applies, we will deduct the actual non-recoverable amount from any refund otherwise due.
A no-show is treated as a same-day cancellation. No refund is normally available for services missed because a traveller arrives late, voluntarily leaves a trip, or chooses not to use a confirmed service after the trip has begun.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate a requested date change or rescheduling. Changes remain subject to availability, supplier rules and any price difference or non-recoverable cost already incurred. A change is not confirmed until accepted by Mo Tours & Safaris in writing.
If one or more travellers cancel from a group booking, the group price may be recalculated using the tier or group rate applicable to the remaining confirmed travellers. Cancellation charges may also apply to the travellers who cancel.
If an activity cannot safely operate because of weather, sea conditions or another safety issue, we may reschedule it, adjust the itinerary or offer a reasonable alternative. Any refund for a service that cannot be provided will take account of costs already irreversibly committed to third-party suppliers.
If we cancel a confirmed service for reasons within our control and cannot provide a reasonable alternative, we will refund the amount paid to us for the affected service. For circumstances beyond our reasonable control, we will work with suppliers to seek rescheduling, credit or recoverable refunds where possible.
Approved refunds are returned through an appropriate available method after applicable supplier recoveries and deductions are confirmed. Processing time may vary depending on banks, card networks, payment providers and third-party suppliers.
We strongly recommend travel insurance that includes trip cancellation and interruption cover, particularly for safaris, Kilimanjaro climbs, domestic flights and multi-day packages.

Choose the route and pace that fit your time, fitness and acclimatization goals.
Hotel accommodation in Moshi or Marangu can be arranged before and after your climb. Final hotel options and room category are confirmed with your quotation.
MT. KILIMANJAROBefore the trek, our mountain team arranges a route briefing and equipment check. On the first morning, your driver collects you from the confirmed Moshi/Arusha hotel and takes you to the appropriate Kilimanjaro gate, where you meet the full guide and porter team and complete park registration.
A direct, classic climb for fit trekkers who want the shortest Marangu itinerary.
Typical mountain schedule: breakfast is usually served around 6:30–7:30 AM, lunch between about 12:00–2:00 PM, and dinner around 6:30–7:30 PM. Exact times, trekking pace and camp arrival can change with weather, altitude, trail conditions and the guide’s safety decisions.
Your mountain guide will normally meet you at your hotel the evening before the climb for a final briefing and equipment check. On trek morning, breakfast is usually taken around 6:30–7:00 AM before your driver collects you for the transfer to Marangu Gate. After registration, permits and porter organisation, begin through lush montane rainforest toward Mandara Hut. The walk is generally 4–5 hours at a deliberately steady pace. Lunch is taken on the trail or on arrival depending on timing. After settling into the hut, enjoy a short rest and optional acclimatization walk. Dinner is normally served around 6:30–7:30 PM, followed by the guide’s briefing for the next day.
After an early breakfast, usually around 7:00 AM, leave the rainforest and enter open heath and moorland. The landscape becomes wider and drier, with views toward Mawenzi and Kibo possible in clear weather. Expect roughly 5–7 hours of trekking with regular hydration and rest stops. Lunch is taken en route. On arrival at Horombo Hut, the team helps you settle in, checks how you are responding to altitude and encourages a relaxed afternoon. Dinner is generally served around 6:30–7:30 PM.
Breakfast is normally served around 6:30–7:00 AM before trekking across the high-altitude alpine desert toward Kibo Hut. The pace becomes slower as altitude increases, and your guide will closely monitor breathing, hydration and general condition. The trekking day is usually 5–7 hours. Lunch is served on the route or at Kibo depending on progress. After arrival, eat an early dinner, prepare summit clothing, headlamp, water and snacks, then rest as much as possible before the night ascent.
Wake late in the evening, commonly around 11:00 PM, for hot tea, biscuits or a light snack. The summit climb normally begins around midnight. Ascend slowly toward Gilman’s Point and continue around the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, aiming to reach the summit area around sunrise depending on pace and conditions. After photographs and a short celebration, descend to Kibo for a rest and a proper meal before continuing down to Horombo Hut. This is the longest and most demanding day of the route. Dinner and an early night follow at Horombo.
After breakfast, begin the long but straightforward descent through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate. Lunch may be served on the trail or after completing the trek. At the gate, complete park formalities and receive summit certificates where applicable. Your driver will meet the group and transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a shower, rest and celebration.
Included: Professional mountain guides, park/rescue fees, porters, mountain meals, drinking water, camping equipment or huts according to route, and gate transfers.
Excluded: International/domestic flights, visa, personal trekking gear, travel insurance, tips, personal expenses and optional hotel upgrades.
A better-paced Marangu climb with an extra acclimatization day at Horombo.
After a pre-climb briefing and equipment check, enjoy an early hotel breakfast before pickup for Marangu Gate. Your guide handles registration while the porter team prepares loads. Begin through tropical rainforest on a well-defined trail to Mandara Hut, usually 4–5 hours. Lunch is taken during the trek or at the hut depending on progress. Dinner is normally served around 6:30–7:30 PM.
Breakfast is typically around 7:00 AM. Trek out of the forest into heath and moorland, with increasingly open views of Mawenzi and Kibo. The walk generally takes 5–7 hours at a controlled acclimatization pace. Lunch is taken en route. Reach Horombo in the afternoon, hydrate, rest and have dinner around early evening.
This extra day is the key advantage of the six-day Marangu itinerary. After breakfast, take a guided acclimatization hike toward Zebra Rocks or higher ground, climbing gradually before returning to sleep at Horombo Hut. The aim is to expose your body to greater altitude while keeping the night at the same sleeping level. Return for lunch or a late lunch, spend the afternoon resting and hydrating, then have dinner and a health briefing with the guide.
Leave after an early breakfast and cross the alpine desert toward Kibo Hut. Expect roughly 5–7 hours of steady trekking. Your guide will keep the pace slow, remind you to drink regularly and monitor altitude response. On arrival, eat, organise summit gear and rest. Dinner is served early because the summit attempt begins before midnight.
Wake around 11:00 PM for tea and a light snack, then begin the summit ascent around midnight. Climb toward Gilman’s Point and continue to Uhuru Peak for sunrise if pace and weather allow. After summit photographs, descend to Kibo for food and rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut. This is a very long day, so the afternoon and evening are reserved for recovery, dinner and sleep.
After breakfast, descend through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate. Complete final park procedures and receive summit certificates when applicable. Your driver will be waiting for the transfer back to your Moshi or Arusha hotel, where the climb officially ends.
Included: Professional mountain guides, park/rescue fees, porters, mountain meals, drinking water, camping equipment or huts according to route, and gate transfers.
Excluded: International/domestic flights, visa, personal trekking gear, travel insurance, tips, personal expenses and optional hotel upgrades.

A quiet northern approach with a gradual trail and a remote wilderness atmosphere.
Meet your guide before departure for a final briefing, then leave your hotel after breakfast for the road transfer to Rongai Gate on Kilimanjaro’s northern side. After registration and porter organisation, begin through cultivated land and forest toward Simba Camp. The first trek is generally moderate and allows the guide to establish a comfortable pace. Lunch is taken en route or at camp. Dinner is usually served around 6:30–7:30 PM.
After breakfast, continue across increasingly open moorland with broad views over northern Kilimanjaro. The guide maintains a slow rhythm to support acclimatization. Expect a substantial trekking day with a lunch stop along the route. Reach Kikelewa Camp in the afternoon, hydrate, rest and attend the evening briefing before dinner.
Leave after an early breakfast and climb gradually toward the high alpine zone and Kibo area. The landscape becomes sparse and volcanic as altitude increases. Your guide monitors your condition closely and keeps the pace conservative. Arrive at Kibo Camp, take a late lunch or early meal, organise summit equipment and rest. Dinner is early because the summit climb begins around midnight.
Wake around 11:00 PM for tea and a light snack before starting the summit ascent near midnight. Climb steadily toward the crater rim and continue to Uhuru Peak, aiming for the summit around sunrise depending on weather and individual pace. Descend to Kibo for rest and food, then continue down the Marangu side to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, descend through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate. Complete the park exit process and collect summit certificates where applicable. Your driver meets you at the gate and transfers you to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.

A quieter northern climb with more time for altitude adjustment before the summit.
Following your pre-climb briefing, enjoy breakfast at the hotel and depart by vehicle for Rongai Gate. After registration and team preparation, trek through forest and farmland to Simba Camp. The first day is deliberately comfortable, usually allowing plenty of time for hydration and adjustment. Dinner is served in the early evening.
After breakfast, climb gradually through moorland toward Second Cave. The northern side of Kilimanjaro is quieter and often feels more remote than the southern routes. Walk at a slow acclimatization pace with a lunch break during the day. Reach camp in the afternoon, rest, hydrate and join the guide’s evening health check and briefing.
Continue across the northern slopes after breakfast, gaining altitude progressively toward Kikelewa. The scenery becomes more dramatic as vegetation thins and Mawenzi becomes increasingly prominent. Lunch is taken en route. Arrive in the afternoon for rest, tea, dinner and preparation for the next higher camp.
Start early and climb toward the Mawenzi area, using the slower morning movement as valuable acclimatization. Continue toward Kibo across the high saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. The day is demanding because of altitude, so your guide will strictly control the pace. On reaching Kibo Camp, eat an early meal, organise summit gear and rest before the midnight departure.
Wake late evening for hot drinks and a light snack, then begin the summit climb around midnight. Ascend toward the crater rim and Uhuru Peak, ideally reaching the highest point near sunrise. After a short summit stop, descend to Kibo for a meal and rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, descend through the changing vegetation zones to Marangu Gate. Complete the exit formalities and certificate process. Your driver meets you at the gate and returns you to your Moshi or Arusha hotel.
Included: Professional mountain guides, park/rescue fees, porters, mountain meals, drinking water, camping equipment or huts according to route, and gate transfers.
Excluded: International/domestic flights, visa, personal trekking gear, travel insurance, tips, personal expenses and optional hotel upgrades.

A scenic and energetic route crossing rainforest, Shira Plateau and the Barranco landscape.
Your guide normally meets you before the climb for a briefing and gear check. After breakfast, your driver transfers you to Machame Gate, where the team completes registration and porter allocation. Begin through dense rainforest on a steadily rising trail to Machame Camp, normally 5–7 hours depending on conditions. Lunch is taken on the trail. Dinner and the next-day briefing take place in camp.
After breakfast, leave the forest and climb onto the heather and moorland zone toward the Shira Plateau. The trail becomes steeper in sections but opens to impressive mountain views. Trek for roughly 4–6 hours, stopping for lunch and hydration. Arrive at Shira Camp in the afternoon with time to rest and, if conditions allow, take a short acclimatization walk before dinner.
This is an important acclimatization day. After breakfast, climb toward Lava Tower at approximately 4,600 metres, where lunch is commonly taken. Spending time high before descending helps the body adjust to altitude. Continue down into the Barranco Valley, arriving at Barranco Camp for dinner and overnight at a lower sleeping elevation than the day’s high point.
After breakfast, tackle the Barranco Wall with guidance from the mountain team. The route then crosses a series of ridges and valleys toward Karanga before continuing to Barafu Camp, the base for the summit attempt. This is a long day, so pace and hydration are carefully managed. On arrival, eat, prepare summit clothing and equipment, then rest. Dinner is served early.
Wake around 11:00 PM for tea, snacks and final preparation, then begin the summit ascent near midnight. Climb slowly toward Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak, ideally reaching the summit around sunrise. After photographs, descend back to Barafu for a short rest and meal, then continue down to Mweka Camp. Dinner and a well-earned sleep follow.
After breakfast, descend through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Complete park formalities and collect summit certificates where applicable. Your driver will meet you for the transfer back to your Moshi or Arusha hotel.
Included: Professional mountain guides, park/rescue fees, porters, mountain meals, drinking water, camping equipment or huts according to route, and gate transfers.

Our preferred Machame pace for stronger acclimatization and a more comfortable summit plan.
Following the pre-climb briefing, leave your hotel after breakfast and drive to Machame Gate. Once registration and porter arrangements are complete, begin through the rainforest toward Machame Camp. The first day usually takes 5–7 hours. Lunch is taken on the trail and dinner is served after settling into camp.
After breakfast, climb out of the forest into moorland and continue onto the Shira Plateau. The pace remains steady, with rest and hydration stops throughout the day. Reach Shira Camp after roughly 4–6 hours, enjoy a hot drink and rest, then attend the evening briefing before dinner.
Climb toward Lava Tower for acclimatization, typically reaching the high point around lunchtime. After spending time at altitude, descend to Barranco Camp. This 'climb high, sleep low' pattern is one of the key acclimatization benefits of the Machame route. Dinner is served at camp after the guide’s health check.
After breakfast, climb the Barranco Wall with support from your guides, then traverse undulating terrain toward Karanga Valley and Karanga Camp. This shorter day creates valuable additional acclimatization time. Lunch is normally served at or near camp, leaving the afternoon for rest, hydration and a short optional walk before dinner.
Leave Karanga after breakfast for the gradual climb to Barafu Camp. The day is intentionally shorter so you can arrive early, eat, prepare summit equipment and rest. Your guide will explain the night ascent, check clothing layers, headlamps, water and snacks. Dinner is usually served early, followed by sleep before the late-evening wake-up.
Wake around 11:00 PM for hot drinks and a light snack. Begin the summit climb around midnight, ascending toward Stella Point and then Uhuru Peak for sunrise if conditions permit. After celebrating briefly at the summit, descend to Barafu for food and rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, descend through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Complete final park procedures and collect summit certificates where applicable. Your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.

A beautiful western approach with varied landscapes and an excellent acclimatization profile.

After the pre-climb briefing and equipment check, depart your hotel after breakfast for Londorossi Gate. The guide completes registration while porters organise group equipment. Continue to the trailhead and begin through the western rainforest toward Forest/Mti Mkubwa Camp. Lunch is taken during the journey or trek. Dinner is served after settling into camp.
Breakfast is served early before climbing out of the forest into heath and moorland. The trail rises toward the Shira Plateau, revealing increasingly open views across the western side of Kilimanjaro. Walk at a controlled pace with a lunch stop en route. Reach Shira 1 Camp in the afternoon for rest, hydration and dinner.
Continue across the broad Shira Plateau after breakfast, taking time to acclimatize gradually. Depending on the guide’s plan and conditions, the team may include an additional higher walk before settling at Shira 2. Lunch is served during the day, and the afternoon is kept relatively relaxed so you can recover, hydrate and prepare for the next higher section.
Climb toward Lava Tower, reaching one of the highest points so far on the trek. Lunch is commonly taken around the Lava Tower area before descending into the Barranco Valley. The descent to a lower sleeping altitude supports acclimatization. Reach Barranco Camp in the afternoon for rest, dinner and briefing.
Begin with the Barranco Wall, then traverse ridges and valleys toward Karanga. Continue onward to Barafu Camp, where you will prepare for the summit attempt. Lunch is taken during the trek. At Barafu, eat an early dinner, organise warm layers, headlamp, water and summit snacks, then rest before the late-evening wake-up.
Wake around 11:00 PM and begin the summit climb near midnight after hot drinks and a light snack. Ascend toward Stella Point and Uhuru Peak, aiming for sunrise depending on pace and weather. Meet your guide for the final briefing, then leave your hotel after breakfast for Londorossi Gate. After registration and porter organisation, continue to the trailhead and trek through montane rainforest to Forest/Mti Mkubwa Camp. Lunch is taken en route. Dinner and the next-day briefing are held in camp.
After breakfast, climb out of the forest into heath and moorland toward the Shira Plateau. The pace is deliberately comfortable to begin acclimatization. Reach Shira 1 in the afternoon after a lunch stop, then rest, hydrate and enjoy dinner.
Cross the open Shira Plateau with gradual elevation gain and excellent opportunities for acclimatization. Your guide may add a short higher excursion if everyone is feeling well. Lunch is taken during the day, while the afternoon at Shira 2 is reserved for rest, hydration and a health check before dinner.
Climb higher toward the Moir/Lava Tower zone, spending time at altitude before descending to Barranco Camp. This is a classic 'climb high, sleep low' day. Lunch is usually taken around the high point, followed by the descent into the Barranco Valley. Dinner is served after settling into camp.
After breakfast, climb the Barranco Wall and continue across rolling terrain to Karanga Camp. The shorter day gives your body additional time to adapt before summit preparation. Lunch is normally taken at or near camp. Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating and, if recommended, taking a short acclimatization walk.
Leave after breakfast for the climb to Barafu Camp. Arrive early enough for lunch, rest and summit preparation. Your guide checks clothing, headlamp, water and snacks and explains the overnight summit strategy. Dinner is served early before you sleep for several hours.
Wake around 11:00 PM for tea and a light snack before beginning the summit ascent near midnight. Climb slowly to Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak, aiming to arrive around sunrise. After a short summit celebration, descend to Barafu for food and rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp.

After breakfast, transfer to Umbwe Gate for registration and porter organisation. Begin the climb through dense montane rainforest on a steep, quiet trail. The route rises steadily beside ridges and valleys before reaching Umbwe Cave Camp. Lunch is taken on the trail, followed by dinner and an overnight in tents.
After breakfast, continue upward as the forest thins into heath and moorland. The trail remains steep and dramatic, with increasingly open views of Kilimanjaro. Trek toward Barranco Valley beneath the southern glaciers, arriving at Barranco Camp for a late lunch or afternoon rest, hydration and dinner.
Start with the famous Barranco Wall, climbing steadily with the guide before traversing a series of ridges and valleys toward Karanga. The day is intentionally moderate to support acclimatization. Reach Karanga Camp in the afternoon for a hot meal, rest and a health check before the higher camps.
After breakfast, climb through increasingly barren alpine desert toward Barafu Camp. Arrive early enough to eat, rest and organise summit clothing, headlamps, water and snacks. Your guide gives the final summit briefing, followed by an early dinner and several hours of sleep.

Depending on season and animal movements, you may encounter wildebeest and zebra herds, big cats, elephants, giraffes, antelope and a wide variety of birdlife. The guide will adapt the route to current wildlife activity and viewing conditions.
Overnight: Kati Kati Tented Camp, Central Serengeti
Travel to the Ngorongoro Crater and descend to the crater floor for an extended game drive. The volcanic basin supports a rich mix of East African wildlife and offers particularly rewarding opportunities to see elephants, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, predators and, with luck, the rare black rhino against the dramatic crater-wall backdrop.
Overnight: Marera Valley Lodge, Karatu
Visit a Maasai boma for an introduction to local traditions, family life, clothing, livelihoods, music and dance. The visit offers a cultural counterpoint to the wildlife safari before you continue to the airport for your separately arranged and paid mainland Tanzania → Zanzibar flight. This flight is not included in the base package price unless it is specifically added to your quotation. On arrival in Zanzibar, meet our island team and transfer to Tembo House Hotel in Stone Town.
Overnight: Tembo House Hotel, Stone Town
After breakfast, enjoy a short guided walking tour through the historic heart of Stone Town, lasting approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Walk through atmospheric lanes and heritage areas while your guide explains Zanzibar’s Swahili culture, Indian Ocean trading history, architecture, carved doors and the history of the East African slave trade. Key exterior viewpoints may include the Old Fort, the House of Wonders area, Forodhani Gardens, local market streets and the former Slave Market/Anglican Cathedral area. There is also time to browse local shops for crafts, souvenirs and spices. No paid entrance fees are included; if you choose to enter any ticketed site, including the Slave Market site, admission is paid directly by you. After the walk, transfer to Smiles Beach Hotel in Nungwi for check-in, beach time and relaxation.
Overnight: Smiles Beach Hotel, Nungwi
Enjoy a full day at leisure at your beach hotel, with time for the beach, swimming pool and relaxation. No compulsory excursion is scheduled. If you feel rested and would like to add an experience, optional short or half-day activities such as Mnemba snorkeling, a Spice Tour or Prison Island can be arranged on request, subject to availability, sea conditions and your preferred timing. Optional activities are not included in the base package price.
Overnight: Smiles Beach Hotel, Nungwi
Enjoy your remaining time at the beach hotel at a relaxed pace. Depending on your confirmed departure time, you may swim, relax by the pool or enjoy the beach before your transfer to Zanzibar Airport or the seaport for your onward journey.
No mainland Tanzania → Zanzibar flight is included in the 8-day base package price. Guests arrange and pay for that flight separately unless Mo Tours specifically adds it to the confirmed quotation. Final accommodation and transport arrangements are confirmed at the time of booking. Zanzibar touring in the base itinerary is intentionally limited to the short Stone Town Walking Tour; Mnemba snorkeling, Spice Tour and Prison Island are optional and can be added on request.
A route-paced northern Tanzania safari designed to reduce backtracking: Lake Manyara, Karatu, the Ngorongoro highlands and crater, Olduvai Gorge, a route-positioned Ndutu overnight inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Central Serengeti and an included one-way bush flight from Seronera to Zanzibar. Finish with historic Stone Town and two relaxed nights in Nungwi. Preferred hotels are shown as route-aligned examples and may be replaced by a comparable same-area property when availability requires.
Meet our representative at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to Arusha. The drive is approximately 50 km and normally takes about 1–1.5 hours depending on traffic and arrival time. The rest of the day is kept easy so you can recover from your international journey and prepare for the safari.
Overnight: Arusha Planet Lodge or similar, Moshono / Arusha
Accommodation: A comfortable Arusha staging lodge used for the arrival night before the northern-circuit safari begins.
Depart Arusha for Lake Manyara National Park, approximately 125–130 km away and about 2–2.5 hours by road. Explore groundwater forest, acacia woodland, wetlands and lakeshore habitats while looking for elephants, baboons, giraffes, birdlife and other wildlife. After the game drive, continue up the Rift Valley escarpment to Karatu; the Lake Manyara/Karatu leg is roughly 30–40 km and normally 40–60 minutes. Sleeping in Karatu positions you close to Ngorongoro for the following morning.
Overnight: Marera Valley Lodge or similar, Karatu
Accommodation: A highland lodge in the Karatu area, selected for its convenient position close to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area entrance.
Leave Karatu early for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Karatu is only about 15–20 km from Loduare Gate; from Karatu to the crater-rim area, allow roughly 1–1.5 hours including the gate approach and formalities. Spend the day exploring the Ngorongoro highlands, crater-rim viewpoints and wildlife areas within the NCA. The full crater-floor descent is intentionally reserved for the following morning, allowing the route to remain comfortable rather than rushed.
Overnight: Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp or similar, Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Accommodation: A tented safari camp inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, chosen to keep guests within the NCA overnight and reduce next-day backtracking.
Start early and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for the package’s planned crater-floor game drive. Search for zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, hippo, elephants, lions, hyenas and, when conditions allow, black rhino. After ascending from the crater, continue west through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward Olduvai Gorge. The crater-to-Olduvai road section is approximately 50 km and about 1 hour before wildlife, scenic and heritage stops. Continue after the Olduvai visit toward the Ndutu / South Ngorongoro plains, creating a comfortable bridge between the crater area and the following day’s Central Serengeti route.
Overnight: Africa Safari Ngorongoro Ndutu – Safari Comfort or similar, Ndutu / Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Accommodation: A mid-range Full Board safari property in the Ndutu sector, selected for its practical position between Olduvai, the southern plains and the route toward Central Serengeti.
After breakfast, continue north from the Ndutu sector toward Naabi Hill and Central Serengeti. Allow roughly 2–3 hours of route time before wildlife stops, road conditions and gate formalities. Enter the wildlife-rich Seronera region and spend the remainder of the day on game drives across the central plains, river valleys and kopjes.
Overnight: Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp or similar, Central Serengeti
Accommodation: An authentic tented safari camp in Central Serengeti, selected for Seronera-area wildlife access and the following day’s convenient airstrip transfer.
Enjoy an early Central Serengeti game drive, then transfer to Seronera Airstrip for the included one-way bush flight to Zanzibar. Flight times depend on the operating airline and confirmed schedule. On arrival at Zanzibar International Airport, meet our island team and transfer to Stone Town; the airport-to-Stone-Town road leg is approximately 9 km and usually 15–20 minutes.
Overnight: Tembo House Hotel or similar, Stone Town
Accommodation: A historic Stone Town hotel used for the cultural overnight before the beach portion of the journey.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided 1–1.5 hour Stone Town walk focused on Zanzibar history, Swahili culture, Indian Ocean trade, carved doors, heritage streets and shopping. Paid admissions to ticketed sites are not included unless specifically stated. After the walk, transfer north to Nungwi, approximately 55–60 km from Stone Town and normally about 1–1.5 hours depending on traffic and village-road conditions.
Overnight: Smiles Beach Hotel or similar, Nungwi
Accommodation: A north-coast beach hotel in Nungwi, selected for the relaxed beach finish, swimming-pool time and easy access to the shoreline.

Overnight: Smiles Beach Hotel or similar, Nungwi
Accommodation: Second beach night, keeping the Zanzibar finish deliberately unhurried.
Enjoy the beach according to your confirmed departure time, then transfer to Zanzibar International Airport for your onward journey. Nungwi to the airport is approximately 65 km and commonly around 1.5 hours by road, although traffic can extend the transfer time.
The properties below are our preferred route-aligned choices, but no named hotel or camp is guaranteed until availability is confirmed in writing. If a preferred property is unavailable, Mo Tours & Safaris will use a carefully selected accommodation of comparable standard in the same safari sector or Zanzibar area wherever possible. Any material change in standard, route position or price will be communicated before final confirmation.
All road distances and driving times shown are approximate planning guides. Safari-road conditions, weather, wildlife stops, gate procedures and traffic can change actual travel time. The scheduled Seronera Airstrip–Zanzibar bush flight is included; airline, departure time, routing and baggage allowance are confirmed at booking and remain subject to airline operation. International flights and ordinary airport-to-airport domestic flights not specifically listed as included remain excluded. Two calendar days are allocated to the Ngorongoro area with one planned crater-floor descent. Named accommodation is a preferred example rather than a guarantee until written confirmation. If a listed property is unavailable, Mo Tours & Safaris will select a comparable-standard alternative in the same safari sector or Zanzibar area wherever possible; the route position and intended experience will be protected, and any material price difference or upgrade will be communicated before final confirmation. Zanzibar touring in the base itinerary is intentionally limited to the short Stone Town Walking Tour; Mnemba snorkeling, Spice Tour and Prison Island remain optional.
Combine a Tanzania wildlife safari with a relaxed Zanzibar finish. After the safari, travel to the mainland airport for a separately booked domestic flight to Zanzibar; this flight is not included in the base package. Overnight in historic Stone Town, enjoy a short 1–1.5 hour Stone Town Walking Tour focused on Zanzibar history, culture and shopping, then continue to the beach hotel for leisure and relaxation. Other island excursions remain optional.
Meet your safari team and travel toward Serengeti National Park, arriving in time for a late-afternoon game drive. The mainland Tanzania → Zanzibar domestic flight used on Day 7 is not included in the base package price and must be booked and paid for separately by the guest unless Mo Tours & Safaris specifically adds it to the confirmed quotation. It is not an included bush flight. International flights and any other domestic flights not specifically listed as included are also excluded. Final accommodation and transport arrangements are confirmed at the time of booking. An extended northern Tanzania safari linking Tarangire, a Karatu positioning night, two calendar days in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with one night inside the NCA, three nights in South Serengeti/Kusini–Ndutu, Central Serengeti and an included one-way bush flight from Seronera to Zanzibar. Finish with Stone Town and two nights of beach leisure in Nungwi.
Overnight: Arusha Planet Lodge, Moshono, Arusha
Accommodation: A comfortable Arusha staging lodge used for the arrival night before the northern-circuit safari begins.
Depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, approximately 120 km and about 2–2.5 hours to the main-gate area. Spend the day game driving among baobab landscapes, seasonal river systems and the park’s well-known elephant populations. After the safari, continue to Karatu rather than sleeping back near Tarangire. Depending on the exit point, the Tarangire-to-Karatu leg is roughly 90–120 km and about 2–2.5 hours. This forward positioning is deliberate so the following morning starts close to Ngorongoro.
Overnight: Marera Valley Lodge, Karatu
Accommodation: A highland lodge in Karatu, selected because it moves the route forward and provides convenient access to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Leave Karatu early for Ngorongoro. Karatu is around 15–20 km from Loduare Gate; allow roughly 1–1.5 hours to reach the crater-rim area once the gate approach and formalities are included. Explore the Ngorongoro highlands, rim viewpoints and wildlife areas within the NCA. The crater-floor descent is planned for the next morning, giving guests two calendar days in the Ngorongoro area without forcing a rushed transfer.
Overnight: Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp, Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Accommodation: A tented safari camp inside the NCA, keeping the group within the conservation area overnight and reducing backtracking before the crater day.
Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater for the package’s planned crater-floor game drive. After ascending, continue west toward South Serengeti/Kusini–Ndutu. Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini is approximately 135 km from the Ngorongoro Crater area; allow roughly 3–4 hours depending on track conditions, wildlife stops and NCA formalities. The changing scenery from highland crater country to open short-grass plains is part of the experience.
Overnight: Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini, South Serengeti
Accommodation: A safari glamping property in the southern Serengeti ecosystem/Kusini sector, positioned for Ndutu and seasonal migration-country game drives.
Spend a full safari day exploring the southern plains. Wildlife varies by season; during migration and calving months the wider Ndutu/Kusini region can hold large concentrations of wildebeest, zebra and predators, while resident wildlife provides rewarding viewing outside the peak migration period as well.
Overnight: Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini, South Serengeti
Accommodation: Second night in the south, allowing the itinerary to explore the area without a daily long-distance transfer.
Continue with another full day in the South Serengeti/Kusini–Ndutu sector. Your guide adapts the day to wildlife movements, road conditions and seasonal concentrations, using the extra night to reach areas that would be impractical on a rushed transit itinerary.
Overnight: Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini, South Serengeti
Accommodation: Third night in the south, creating the extended safari depth that distinguishes the 11-day itinerary.
Travel north toward Central Serengeti with game viewing en route. From Africa Safari Serengeti Kusini to the Seronera Airstrip area is approximately 75 km and around 2.5 hours by safari vehicle before extended wildlife stops. Spend the remainder of the day exploring the Seronera Valley and surrounding central plains.
Overnight: Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp, Central Serengeti
Accommodation: A mobile tented camp in Central Serengeti, well positioned for Seronera wildlife areas and the next morning’s bush-flight departure.
Enjoy an early Central Serengeti game drive before transferring to Seronera Airstrip for the included one-way bush flight to Zanzibar. The exact departure time and any intermediate stop depend on the confirmed airline schedule. On arrival at Zanzibar International Airport, our island team transfers you to Stone Town, approximately 9 km and usually 15–20 minutes by road.
Overnight: Tembo House Hotel, Stone Town
Accommodation: A historic Stone Town hotel used for the cultural overnight before the beach portion of the package.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided 1–1.5 hour Stone Town walk covering Zanzibar history, Swahili culture, Indian Ocean trade, carved doors, heritage streets and shopping. Paid admission to ticketed sites is not included unless specifically stated. Continue to Nungwi after the walk; Stone Town to Nungwi is approximately 55–60 km and normally about 1–1.5 hours by road.
Overnight: Smiles Beach Hotel, Nungwi
Accommodation: A north-coast beach hotel in Nungwi, chosen for an easy transition from safari travel into beach and pool relaxation.
Enjoy a full day at leisure with no compulsory excursion. Relax on the beach or by the pool, or add an optional short/half-day activity such as Mnemba snorkeling, a Spice Tour or Prison Island, subject to availability, conditions and additional cost.
Overnight: Smiles Beach Hotel, Nungwi
Accommodation: Second beach night, preserving a genuine relaxation day before departure.
Enjoy your remaining beach time according to the confirmed flight schedule, then transfer to Zanzibar International Airport. The road distance is approximately 65 km and the transfer commonly takes around 1.5 hours, with extra time allowed when traffic requires it.
